About the Speaker
Heather DeGrella has 11 years of experience at Lake|Flato Architects as a project designer and project manager. She has worked for a number of institutional clients, non-profit organizations and government agencies, as well as private owners. She has pursued her interest and passion in sustainability through graduate study at the University of Texas at Austin and continuing education, practical application on a variety of projects and through professional service as an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Central Texas- Balcones Chapter, where she has served as both Communication Director and Chair. She has led Lake|Flato’s internal "green team," helping to ensure that sustainability expertise is shared across the firm. Heather DeGrella has shown leadership in bringing the issues of sustainability and green building to the forefront of the local building industry. As chairperson of the USGBC Central Texas-Balcones Chapter, Heather helped build an organization that has successfully unified building professionals from Austin to San Antonio behind the goal of "changing the marketplace" for green building. Whether it is providing green building workshops for professionals, outreach to the community, or advocating for green building public policy, Heather has been not only a leader but a doer. Her approach is simple, lead by example. As an advisor to the Metropolitan Partnership for Energy (now Build San Antonio Green) in San Antonio, Heather helped to establish San Antonio’s first green homes rating system. She has also authored articles for the San Antonio Business Journal and the San Antonio Express-News on topics of sustainability.
Continuing Education Units (CEU) will be provided at the conclusion of the presentation. All registration must be done online...no cash or checks will be accepted at the door. Refunds will ONLY be given if the event is canceled by the USGBC Central Texas-Balcones Chapter.
